Qantas Showcase Event 2017

The KTK team are back in the office after an amazing event at the Qantas Headquarters on Friday! 7 KTK schools (5 Victorian and 2 NSW) travelled to Mascot, NSW to present a range of activities to the Joey Club and each other!

The day saw a wide range of activities being present on a number of topics, including food chains/ webs, the Helmeted Honeyeater and a puppet show telling the story of Tiddalick the frog! Students heard from Qantas employees about their roles at the corporation as well as being given an exclusive tour of the Qantas control centre and learnt about how flight plans are made and monitored!

We also had the added bonus of hearing from the Joey Club about everything they’ve been doing to promote sustainability at Qantas. This has included running an investigation into how many coffee cups are used by Qantas employees, speaking with the cafes in the building about reusable coffee cups, building a GIANT coffee cup sculpture and even inviting Alan Joyce to their classroom to present their design for a new recycling bin! These are some super busy Kinder kids!

It was also a special day for Rory from St Louis de Montfort, who had never been on an aeroplane before! Thankfully it was a smooth flight for his first time and he was presented with his ‘wings’ during the opening ceremony!

Thanks again to St Louis de Montfort Primary School, Beaumaris Primary School, Hilltop Road Public School, Cheltenham Secondary College, North Melbourne Primary School, Wahroonga Preparatory School and Footscray City College for participating and Qantas for providing such an amazing venue!

Check out some of our snaps from the day!
