What is Kids Teaching Kids?

 
Kids Teaching Kids is a school based Learning model and Program of events that inspires young people to learn and care for their environment.
 
Kids Teaching Kids uses local environmental issues as a theme for learning. 
The Kids Teaching Kids Learning Model uses peer teaching and learning pedagogy – teachers become facilitators and students are empowered to take responsibility for their own learning.
 
Through the education techniques in the Kids Teaching Kids Learning Model, students learn with their head, heart and hand. In other words, students are encouraged into thinking, feeling and developing practical ways to respond to the challenges facing our environment.
 
 

Australia Post Kids Teaching Kids In-School Program

 
We understand that it is not always possible for schools to host a Kids Teaching Kids presentation during Australia Post Kids Teaching Kids Week (27-31 August). For this reason, the In-school Program was developed to capture and celebrate all the fabulous and diverse Kids Teaching Kids projects taking place across Australia, all year round!
 

The In-School Program allows greater flexibility, encouraging and supporting schools to incorporate the Kids Teaching Kids Learning Model throughout the year. Our experienced education team is available to assist you to implement the program in your school, at your pace. We recognise that each school will approach the program in a slightly different manner and therefore deliver a Kids Teaching Kids experience unique to their school. Our aim is to capture and share these varied experiences.

As a registered school you are entitled to free use of the Kids Teaching Kids Methodology, online and phone support from our Education Officers 5 days per week, a free education pack including full colour Kids Teaching Kids Book and DVD, a Kids Teaching Kids Certificate, national recognition through the website, and where possible an Education Officer will visit your school to provide assistance.

If you have tried the In-School model and are feeling confident, why not join a national celebration and give Kids Teaching Kids Week a go. During Kids Teaching Kids Week hundreds of schools around Australia will celebrate their sustainability achievements though thousands of student-led presentations. We have grants to financially assist schools involved in Kids Teaching Kids Week and a media team spreading the news!
